The Jet Lag is Real

I’m writing this blog post at 5 am Hyderabad time because my body still thinks it’s only 9 pm. Dave was right, the time change is gonna be hard! Although I feel the impending exhaustion coming later today, I’m excited to get started on our first round of clinical observations. Let’s see how it goes!

Arrival

We’ve arrived Hyderabad! We met up with Dr. Yazdi in the airport and taxied to the Radisson Blu. I thought the passenger seat was on the right. RIP. We initially checked into the hotel at about 3am; it’s incredible! There’s a pic of the lobby and pool below. A slight mix-up with check-in resulted Dave & me, and Dr. Yazdi getting tossed into smoking rooms, but this will be resolved in short order. Dave and I had breakfast with Dr. Yazdi and the team is looking to meet with Naresh this evening to plan activities for tomorrow. – DZ

Rookies

Major learning curve here, not one person on this team has any clue how to create/write a blog. We are probably the right people to go to if you want to code something or solve a math problem, but definitely not this. Bags are packed (teetering the 50lb weight limit) and we are getting ready to head off to DC for a lengthy flight across the pond. David Z. hasn’t been able to sleep all week worrying about the legroom on the plane, let’s see how this goes.

We’re off…

And so our journey to Hyderabad begins! Our team is working with worldwide MedTech industry leader Medtronic to identify unmet clinical needs in surgical care, postoperative monitoring, and access to safe anesthesia in various tiered hospitals in India. This will be all of our first times in India — we are excited to visit Hyderabad and any surrounding cities we manage to get to during our trip! A 13 hour flight followed by a 4 hour flight will certainly be a new experience for much of our team. After India we are headed to Europe for a few days to enjoy the sights and sounds of Copenhagen (not to mention the cooler weather).

These past few days leading up to our departure for India have been hectic. They have been filled with booking our hotel, finalizing itinerary, arranging shuttles, and aimlessly searching the streets of Baltimore for another duffel bag (@ David Z).
